Kalaignar Kaivinai Thittam


Kalaignar Kaivinai Thittam empowers skilled artisans by providing financial support to sustain and expand their trades. This scheme aims to preserve traditional craftsmanship while promoting self-employment opportunities.

Eligibility & Benefits:

  • Applicants must be above 35 years of age.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in one of the 25 listed trades.
  • If a subsidy above ₹1.5 lakh was received under any GoTN self-employment or business expansion scheme in the last 5 years, it must be repaid.
  • Maximum eligible subsidy: ₹50,000 (25% of the loan amount).

Annal Ambedkar Business Champions Scheme


AABCS is a financial support scheme exclusively for SC/ST entrepreneurs, providing capital subsidies and interest subvention to promote new and expanding enterprises.

Eligibility & Benefits:

  • Age Limit: Up to 55 years
  • Education Qualification: No educational qualification required
  • Target Beneficiaries: SC/ST entrepreneurs (100% ownership required)
  • Business Coverage: New enterprises and expansion of existing ones, including trading businesses above UYEGP thresholds
  • Project Cost Includes: Land, plant, machinery, testing equipment, computing devices (land cost capped at 20% of the total cost). Vehicles are eligible if integral to the business
  • Capital Subsidy: 35% of the eligible project cost (maximum ₹1.5 crore)
  • Interest Subvention:
    • 6% subsidy for machinery & equipment loans (for up to 10 years)
    • Working capital loans eligible for interest subsidy for 2 years
  • Credit Linkage: Covers projects with or without credit linkage. For non-credit linked projects, the subsidy is released at the end
  • Additional Subsidy: No restriction on availing subsidies from non-Government of Tamil Nadu schemes

New Entrepreneur cum Enterprise Development Scheme (NEEDS)


NEEDS is a government initiative aimed at supporting first-generation entrepreneurs by providing financial assistance, capital subsidies, and interest subvention to establish manufacturing and service-based enterprises.

Eligibility & Benefits:

  • Age Limit: 21-45 years (up to 55 years for Women/BC/MBC/SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/Transgenders/Differently Abled)
  • Educational Qualification: Must have completed Higher Secondary (+2)/Degree/Diploma/ITI/Vocational Training
  • Project Cost: Ranges from ₹10 lakh to ₹5 crore for manufacturing or service enterprises
  • Promoter's Contribution: 10% for General & 5% for Special Category
  • Loan Assistance: Provided by TIIC/Commercial Banks/TAICO Banks
  • Capital Subsidy: 25% of the project cost (maximum ₹75 lakh)
  • Interest Subvention: 3% subsidy on interest throughout the entire repayment period

PMEGP is a central government scheme that provides financial support to new entrepreneurs for setting up micro-enterprises in the manufacturing, service, and business sectors to generate self-employment opportunities.

Eligibility & Benefits:

  • Age Limit: Minimum 18 years
  • Educational Qualification: Minimum 8th pass for projects above ₹10 lakh (manufacturing) & ₹5 lakh (service)
  • Project Cost:
    • Manufacturing: Up to ₹50 lakh
    • Service/Business: Up to ₹20 lakh
  • Promoter's Contribution:
    • 10% for General Category
    • 5% for Special Category (SC/ST/OBC/Minorities/Women/Ex-Servicemen/Differently Abled)
  • Subsidy:
    • Urban Areas: 15% (General) & 25% (Special Category)
    • Rural Areas: 25% (General) & 35% (Special Category)
  • Loan Assistance: Provided by Commercial Banks, Cooperative Banks, Regional Rural Banks, and SIDBI
  • Repayment Period: 3 to 7 years after an initial moratorium
